05/11/2010: "A Mother's Day Surprise"

Kryn Arnold hading out bags of wildflower seeds. This past Sunday morning mothers entering Community Bible Church were given a wonderful surprise. As they entered the church each was given a small cellophane bag holding some potting soil and wildflower seeds.

Attached to each packet was a note that read:

“For as the earth bursts with spring wildflowers, and as a garden cascades with blossoms, So the Master, God, brings righteousness into full bloom and puts praise on display before the nations. (Isaiah 61:11 MSG)”

The idea for the Mother's Day gifts came from an eight year old boy who heads up his own ministry, Bags of Love. On last Friday night about 20 people, adults and children alike, met in the atrium of the church in support of Bags of Love to assemble the bags. Between 6:30 PM and 10:30 PM 970 bags were filled, tied and labeled in preparation for Mother's Day. It was a night of fun and fellowship.

As if to demonstrate how the Holy Spirit causes the Gospel seeds we spread to germinate and grow in the hearts of others, by Sunday morning the seeds had begun to sprout and grow roots. How amazing is that?

Today, take the time to spread some Gospel seeds around your neighborhood. They might not sprout over the course of one weekend, but some day you will reap a bountiful harvest.
